Research Aims

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the social acceptability of using gesture and speech based interfaces in public. In this survey, we will investigate your perceptions of various gesture and voice commands and your willingness to use these as part of a mobile interface.

Participation

Participation in this survey is entirely optional and you may choose to skip any question or quit the survey at anytime. These options will be clearly displayed at the top of the screen during each phase of the survey.

All information gathered during this survey will be stored securely and kept anonymous. You will not be asked to provide any personally identifying information.

This survey asks questions about the social acceptability of a set of gesture and voice commands that may be used in a mobile interface. For each command, you will be shown a short video of a person performing the command and you will be asked questions about how acceptable you feel the command would be in different scenarios. These will be multiple choice questions with a short answer field if you would like to add more information to your answer.

Please note you must have an up-to-date version of flash on your computer, as well as speakers or headphones to play and listen to these videos. Please make sure that your volume is turned up before you begin this survey.
